Individuals in Power Must Either Fulfill Their Duties Honorably or Step Down: Sargsyan
Aram Sargsyan, the leader of the Republic party, expressed on his Facebook page his confusion regarding the complaints of former National Security Service head Arthur Vanetsyan. He stated, "Revolutions occur with a promise to reject and punish the former authorities and to return what was stolen. This is when people take to the streets and continue to demand the victor fulfill these promises after the victory. What has occurred in our country is no exception, and the current government is trying to fulfill its promises as much as possible by punishing the former authorities and returning what was taken.
Vanetsyan, having known and understood all of this, willingly took on the responsible position of NSS head and participated in the government. Any contrary stance would be simply ridiculous, and it is unclear what he is surprised about now and whom he is complaining to as a result.
The current government has the obligation to reveal and punish previous crimes with the judicial system, the Constitutional Court, and yes, also with the discovery and punishment of former crimes. Individuals who are part of the government must either carry out their duties honorably and with their expertise or resign and step away. It would be preferable for them to do so without any pretentiousness or absurdity," he noted.
