Video: Tragic Accident on the Highway in Surenavan
On September 16, at 04:01, the "911" emergency service received a report regarding an incident on the Yerevan-Meghri highway at the end of the village of Surenavan in the Ararat region, where a road traffic accident occurred along with a fire outbreak, and there are casualties requiring the assistance of rescuers.
Two fire and rescue teams and an operational group from the regional rescue department of the Emergency Situations Ministry were dispatched to the scene. It was found that on the right side of the 59th km of the Yerevan-Meghri section of the M-2 highway, a truck with a "KamAZ" brand trailer (driver: Razmik A., born in 1962) collided with a "BMW" vehicle.
As a result of the accident, both the "BMW" vehicle and the cab of the truck with the "KamAZ" brand trailer were completely burned. The driver of the "BMW" vehicle and its two passengers died on the spot.
The fire was contained at 04:20 and extinguished by 04:46. The driver of the "KamAZ" vehicle and a passenger, Gevorg S. (born in 1995), were hospitalized at the Ararat Medical Center, where the doctors assessed the health status of the injured as satisfactory.
Rescuers retrieved the bodies of the "BMW" vehicle's driver Varos M. and passengers Kristine and Lusine M., brought them close to the ambulance, and lifted the "BMW" vehicle onto a tow truck.
