Video: Torosyan is guilty of criminal indifference in the Manvel Grigoryan case, says Baghdasaryan

The former president of the EKC and former MP Manvel Grigoryan's defense team member Levon Baghdasaryan is demanding that Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan be held accountable.

This was stated by Baghdasaryan during a meeting with reporters today, on September 16. “About 2 months ago, an interagency commission was formed. The defense team voiced that this would take a long time, but they said, 'No, what are you saying, it will be quick.' After the commission was formed, Grigoryan was taken to the doctors assigned by the interagency commission, where he underwent examination. They voiced that they are merely conducting a comparison with results from an interagency body created a year ago and the results from six months of the commission's work, and it was concluded that there is a deterioration in health conditions.

“After all this, the interagency commission decided that 2-3 more experts should be involved for an additional 2-3 weeks. At this point, the Minister of Health has not lifted a finger because it falls under his jurisdiction. His inactivity is simply preventing the commission from working and completing its functions. This is a lawsuit that reveals the Minister of Health's inaction, and it doesn't even hide it. This way, the trial concerning Manvel Grigoryan's case is being dragged on indefinitely and without care,” stated Baghdasaryan.

The lawyer shared that the defense team of Manvel Grigoryan has already sent three letters to the Minister of Health, informing that if there is a deterioration in Grigoryan's health condition, this falls under the Minister's responsibility, and the Government of the Republic of Armenia will simply be held accountable.

“Because Manvel Grigoryan's case is being reviewed by the European Court of Human Rights, and we have a ruling that it is being examined as a priority, and as a result, we have this semi-inactive situation today. The defense has left its protective functions to raise this issue publicly, that the corresponding government unit is not performing any actions regarding Grigoryan's case. In my opinion, this is criminal indifference. I hope that before it reaches the Prime Minister and the validity of the publicly raised questions by the defense is clarified, if they correspond to reality, appropriate accountability will be applied. In this country, it should not be selective who is treated and who is not. Unfortunately, the right to resistance is already in effect. You see, today the defense has set aside their work to hold a press conference once a week, stating, 'People, there is a violation of rights.' There has been absolutely no response from the state authority claiming, 'You are wrong, you are lying,'” he noted.

He stated that he has not met with Arsen Torosyan personally but has sent an official letter: “He has also violated the imperative requirement of the law there, as he has not even given at least an interim response. For weeks, he hasn’t even issued an order to form a competent medical group to carry out the necessary actions.”

It should be reminded that on June 6, Manvel Grigoryan was transferred from the “Penitentiary Hospital” to “St. Gregory the Illuminator” Medical Center in extremely serious condition, and days later to “Nairi” Medical Center.

According to the indictment conclusion, Manvel Grigoryan illegally acquired, transported, and unlawfully stored firearms, military ammunition, explosive materials, as well as committed various types of theft in collusion with his wife Nazik Amiryan, their son Arman Grigoryan, and other unidentified individuals, circumventing the restrictions provided by the RA Law on Weapons. He is accused of misappropriating property allocated to meet the needs of soldiers and volunteers protecting the borders of the Artsakh Republic during the April 2016 Four-Day War and the subsequent days.
