Video: Illegal Activities of Former Acting Rector of the Armenian State University of Economics Revealed, Criminal Case Initiated
Recently, operational information was received at the National Security Service's Department of Combating Corruption regarding the illegal activities of the former acting rector of the Armenian State University of Economics. This information was reported by the police.
Based on the information, materials were prepared in the Department of Combating Crimes Against Corruption and Economic Activity. According to currently available data, the former acting rector of the university signed an order in violation of the requirements of the RA Labor Code, granting annual paid leave to his associates— the former head of the Administrative and Organizational Department and the former financial director—who were hired in December and March. They were paid over 640,000 drams, causing significant damage to the educational institution.
Additionally, prior to the completion of the 2018-2019 academic year, the former acting rector abused his official powers by awarding the university’s chief energy engineer 350,000 drams as a bonus for successfully concluding that academic year, again causing significant damage to the institution.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Department of Combating Corruption of the police, which has been forwarded to the Investigative Committee for further examination.
