VIDEO: Foreign Nationals Demanded One Million Dollars Under the Pretext of Counterfeiting Currency

On September 6, a citizen who approached the Vagharshapat police station reported that on September 5, a Panamanian national named Johnson and his brother had prepared three $100 banknotes in a hotel in Yerevan with him present. One of these banknotes was given to him with the assurance that it could be used like a real banknote.

During the preparatory investigation, officers from the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Police, the Armavir Regional Department, and Vagharshapat Police conducted joint operational and investigative activities that revealed the identities of the individuals mentioned by the citizen, which turned out to be 34 and 37-year-old foreign nationals.

It became clear that the foreigners had demanded $1 million from the person who reported to the police under the pretext of producing counterfeit currency.

On September 14, at 15:45, they were found on Tigran Mets Avenue in the capital and were detained along with their Hyundai Elantra vehicle, and taken to the Vagharshapat police station.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. The vehicle has been transferred to the special parking lot of the Vagharshapat Police and sealed. An investigation is ongoing.
