The Purpose of Undermining the CC Decision is to Indirectly Influence the Court in the R. Kocharyan Case: Melikyan
Ruben Melikyan, co-founder of the public organization "Legal Way," commented on the speech of the President of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, regarding issues related to the Constitutional Court (CC).
"The content of the speech was nothing short of another manifestation of the process that began on May 20, aimed at subordinating the judicial authority, particularly the Constitutional Court, to the political force in power. This process officially involves the legislative body. The timing selected for the speech was particularly interesting, coinciding with the preliminary announcement of a court decision regarding the measures involving the second president based on the CC's ruling. Considering the experience of recent months, one can argue that the selected timing was by no means coincidental. By undermining the CC's decision, the goal was to indirectly influence the lower court in order to receive not a legally justified decision based on relevant law and facts, stemming from the internal conviction of the judge, but a judicial act expressing the political will of the ruling power," Melikyan wrote.
