The 'Incredible Adventures' of Hondurans in Armenia

Today, on September 16, the Organized Crime Division of the Police, in collaboration with the Armavir Regional Police Directorate, carried out operational-investigative measures on Tigran Mets Street in Yerevan. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the operation, two citizens of the Republic of Honduras, 34-year-old Toledo T. and 37-year-old Matamoros M., were detained and brought to the Vagharsapat Police Department.

Shamshyan's information indicates that the operational information received by the police was credible and, as people say, 'completely cemented.' On September 6 of this year, R. P., invited to the Vagharsapat Police Department, reported that on September 5, around 2:00 PM, a citizen of Panama named Johnson, who had previously become acquainted with him, along with his brother, prepared three $100 bills, which he suspected were counterfeit, in one of the rooms of the 'Hrazdan' hotel complex in Yerevan in his presence. After that, they gave him one of the counterfeit $100 bills, claiming that it could be used as a real banknote.

Today, Toledo T. and Matamoros M. were brought in on suspicion of demanding $1 million from R. P. under the pretense of producing counterfeit banknotes. The mentioned individuals were in a Honda Elantra with license plate 77 PT 717 and are suspected of attempting large-scale fraud.
