My Resignation Should Be a Sobering Step for 'Stop!' Vanoctyan on His Resignation
In a message posted on the Facebook page of the National Security Service, Arthur Vanetsyan addressed the citizens of Armenia and announced his resignation:
Dear compatriots, esteemed servicemen of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia,
I am informing you that I have made the decision to submit my resignation from the position of the Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia. In the context of the current situation and the future, I consider this decision to be the most preferable and well-founded option for serving the Republic of Armenia and my people.
I have made this decision as firmly as I did when I agreed to take on the position of Director of the National Security Service during a crucial phase for our country. My year and a half of work has always been before your eyes, and I have acted with one principle: Homeland and the honor of the soldier come above all else.
State building has its logic—the spontaneity of decisions, the haste of actions, distinguishing the primary from the secondary, and the inability to differentiate between the fleeting and the lasting is not a path that leads to the realization of our goals. Such an approach has nothing to do with the dignity of a soldier; the soldier's insignia and the course of developments are incompatible.
Let my resignation be a sobering step for 'Stop!'; in all other alternatives, the debt to the homeland will prevail.
Peace and security to our country.
I am honored.
