Mikael Minasian to Be Involved in Criminal Case Soon
Mikael Minasian, the son-in-law of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and former ambassador to the Vatican, will soon be involved in a criminal case. This was announced today by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with reporters in Vanadzor while commenting on Minasian's recent statements.
“Mikael Minasian has received information that investigations on certain criminal cases have already reached him. There is a very high likelihood that he will be regarded as a suspect, particularly in the privatization case of one of Armenia's strategic objects. I presume that he has thought of testifying against Serzh Sargsyan, which would result in Sargsyan's arrest. For that reason, he has hastily claimed that he is a political persecuted,” said Pashinyan.
He advised Minasian to return to Armenia and respond to the questions of the Special Investigation Service (SIS). The Prime Minister did not want to reveal specifics but indicated that the object in question is located in the Lori region. Pashinyan also stated that Minasian is the owner of not just one, but several strategic objects in Armenia, although they were registered under another person's name, a woman who, according to Pashinyan, has been abducted from Armenia.
“From mining to energy, media, and advertising fields, does anyone doubt that Mikael Minasian is a millionaire today? And he is a millionaire using state levers,” the Prime Minister said.
In response to a question about why Serzh Sargsyan has not been arrested, Nikol Pashinyan replied that everyone in Armenia is equal before the law and there is no one who cannot be arrested. He added, however, that in Armenia, no one should be arrested by political decision. Regarding the Sargsyan family, Pashinyan recalled: “Both of Serzh Sargsyan’s brothers are involved in a criminal case. Two sons of one brother are involved in a criminal case. Two sons of the other brother are involved in a criminal case. Some of them are wanted.”
Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that these family members have plundered the Republic of Armenia.
