STATEMENT

HDY ARMENIA

In recent months, we have expressed our concerns regarding the unacceptable pressures exerted by the political authority on the courts and judges, in relation to the events surrounding the judicial system.

The extraordinary speech-call of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the announcement by the leader of the My Step faction not only confirmed our concerns but also established the fact that the ruling political force has adopted a path towards establishing complete autocracy and subverting the constitutional order.

This behavior, carried out under the guise of public demand but actually driven by self-interests, is undermining the institutional foundation of the state and deepening intolerance and turmoil in the country. Such an approach has no correlation with democracy.

The intent to seize the judicial system is incompatible with the much-needed reforms of the judicial system in the country.

The Revolution, being a responsible political force for the present and future of the Armenian people, assesses the current trend that poses a threat to the Armenian statehood as extremely dangerous.

We call on the legislative and executive branches of the government to halt unconstitutional actions and refrain from anti-state activities.

We urge judges to remain faithful to their mission of administering justice as enshrined in the Constitution.

We call on political forces committed to the future of the country and the public to unite around real national agendas.

Through adequate steps and actions, we will counter all those governmental plans that threaten the integrity of constitutional norms and public stability and development in the country.
