A Professional Like Vanetsyan Could Not Have Worked Long: Ara Vardanian
Ara Vardanian, the former executive director of the Armenia Fund, commented on the resignation of the head of the National Security Service, Arthur Vanetsyan, on his Facebook page. Below is the full post:
“Everything has its limits. From the very beginning, it was clear to me that a professional like Vanetsyan wouldn’t be able to work for long. After the change of power, for a few months, he seemed to succumb to the conditions of euphoria, but he quickly realized the shortsightedness of that path. That working style clearly did not benefit the authorities, and as a result, Vanetsyan did what any self-respecting officer should do. This resignation proves a simple truth: Armenia is under a system of telephonic justice, which Mr. Vanetsyan has rejected today. It is also becoming evident that the newly appointed head of the NSS will be engaged from day one in the 'sacred' task of capturing people. I truly regret that we are all witnessing such lawlessness, and I hope it will come to an end soon.”
