MP Reports Assassination Attempt on Kyokushin Karate Federation President

Armenian MP Arman Babajanyan has alerted the public via a Facebook post regarding an assassination attempt on the president of the Kyokushin Karate Federation. According to him, the attack took place on September 8.

The post reads in full:

“URGENT!!!

Armed assassination attempt on Kyokushin Federation President Andranik Hakobyan.

I visited Andranik Hakobyan, who was previously subjected to an armed assault just days ago. On September 8, 2023, around 15:00, a group of five people led by Sevak Seroobian (born 02.08.87 in the village of Mtsavan, Lori Province) attacked Andranik Hakobyan near the VTB bank located at 25 Shinarnaner, in the adjacent yard of his home, using cold weapons—a steel knuckle duster—and inflicted severe bodily injuries before fleeing the scene.

A forensic expert confirmed that he suffered a right-sided hemoperitoneum, as well as complex fractures on the right and left zygomatic arches, and the back basal wall of the right maxillary sinus. There were also slight displacements in the fractures of the right temporomandibular joint and the left nasal cavity wall.

Andranik Hakobyan has undergone surgery and is currently at home.

The police and the prosecutor's office are exhibiting total inaction. The investigator’s negligence and potential interests in softening the case cast doubts that an attempt is being made to cover up the crime and hide the main perpetrator and his accomplices.

I would like to inform that both the perpetrators of this brutal crime and their sponsors are known.

I urge the Chief of Police and the Chief Prosecutor to take immediate notice of this case and undertake the necessary measures to uncover the crime and ensure that the guilty parties are punished accordingly. The family of Andranik Hakobyan is in urgent need of protection, which is greatly connected to the disclosure of this case and its subsequent developments.”
