No Court Decision on Demolishing Unauthorized Structure in Nor Nork in November: Hakob Karapetyan

The spokesperson for the Yerevan municipality, Hakob Karapetyan, has responded on his Facebook page to a report by a media outlet, stating that there is no court decision regarding the demolition of an unauthorized structure in Nor Nork in November.

“Today, a report was published in the ‘Aravot’ newspaper, which specifically mentioned: 'Two months after Hayk Marutyan became the mayor of Yerevan, in November 2018, the municipality demolished a structure owned by the company Ani-97 located at 1/3 Gyurjyan Street in the Nor Nork administrative district. It was officially announced that it was built without a construction permit. The Ani-97 company appealed to the court and won the case in the first instance; the court ruled that the municipal order to demolish the structure was illegal.' I have already stated that this report is one-sided, incomplete, and distorts the reality.

What actually occurred:

The plaintiff requested to annul the municipal decision No. 3345-A dated October 29, 2018, regarding the demolition of the unauthorized structure at 1/3 Gyurjyan Street in Nor Nork. This decision pertained to the demolition of the entire unauthorized structure and was subsequently appealed by the developer.

Now, the municipality has not demolished anything based on decision No. 3345-A. The part of the structure located on community land was demolished pursuant to the mayor's decision No. 3395-A dated November 12, 2018, which has not been appealed.

And since the municipality has not demolished anything based on decision No. 3345-A, there can be no talk of any compensation, no matter how much some individuals suspected of misappropriating community property attempt to disseminate misinformation with their own 'polished' interpretation.

Certainly, we will send a demand for a retraction to the media outlet that published this report. With all due respect to the ‘Aravot’ newspaper and its staff, the demand for a retraction primarily concerns the source of the news,” he wrote.
