Armenian TV to Broadcast Henrikh Mkhitaryan's New Club Roma's Matches

Armenian television channel "Armenia" has acquired the rights to broadcast matches of the Italian club "Roma". This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by a reliable source.

It turns out that there has been an issue regarding the broadcasting of Serie A matches, linked to a Turkish company. Sports commentator Robert Gasparyan detailed the problem to Sputnik Armenia.

“After a long hiatus, in the 2018-19 season, Armenia's "5th Channel" acquired the rights to broadcast Serie A matches. However, this season, for the 2019-20 matches, they were unable to continue this initiative due to certain non-technical issues related to broadcasting. That is, issues which probably have more to do with politics,” our interlocutor noted.

According to Robert Gasparyan, the issue is that the exclusive rights to broadcast the 2019-20 Serie A matches in the South Caucasus region were granted to the Turkish company SARAN, which deals with copyright sales. Representatives of the Armenian TV company attempted to reach an agreement with this Turkish company before Mkhitaryan's transfer to "Roma", but to no avail.

After Henrikh's transfer, "5th Channel" again tried to explain to the Turkish company that the Italian league and specifically the matches of "Roma" are of interest to Armenian viewers, but the Turkish side remained adamant, responding that they are not interested in separate broadcasting of the Serie A in Armenia.

This means there were no financial or technical problems, as the sports commentator assured.

It is worth noting that on the upcoming Sunday, September 15, we may see our Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the starting lineup of "Roma" in the match against "Sassuolo". In any case, Italian sports newspapers mention Mkhitaryan as a likely starter in the left attacking midfielder position.
