Pay Attention to Meat Labels: Call from the Food Safety Authority
The Food Safety Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia continues its diligent work to smoothly regulate the transition to the sale of meat and meat products of slaughterhouse origin in the retail network and public food establishments. This was stated in a message distributed by the Inspectorate.
The Inspectorate has initiated a process of encouragement and support. All retail networks, meat selling points, and public food entities that will exclusively use meat and meat products from slaughterhouses will receive appropriate informational labels and certificates from the Inspectorate.
Consumers are urged to pay attention to the presence of these labels in the retail network. This confirms that the organization’s meat procurement process has been inspected by the authority and that the meat marketed there certainly comes from a slaughterhouse.
Today, labels and certificates were issued to "SAS Group", where only meat and meat products of slaughterhouse origin are already sold at all retail points.
The Inspectorate has also opened a platform on the snund.am website where you can see which organizations are already safely marketing or consuming only meat of slaughterhouse origin.
It should be noted that Armenian legislation establishes the mandatory requirement for slaughterhouse standards, and starting from January 15, 2020, the slaughterhouse origin of fresh meat will be mandatory for all operators in the food chain. We urge operators engaged in the retail network and public catering sector to contact slaughterhouses or secondary links selling exclusively fresh meat of slaughterhouse origin.
