Electric Buses to Operate in Batumi

Batumi is the first city in Georgia where electric buses will be launched. Initially, 8 electric buses will be in operation in the city, according to ALIQ.

On September 11, a contract was signed between 'Batumi Transport' and 'Belkommunmash'. The tender amounts to 3 million 777 thousand euros.

The Eastern European Energy Efficiency and Environmental Partnership (E5P) has allocated 1 million 500 thousand euros for this project, while the remaining funds have been provided as a subsidized loan by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Last year, Batumi's bus fleet was updated with 40 new buses.
