Classes at Ashotzk School to Suspend for 2 Days After Earthquake

After the earthquake that occurred on the evening of September 10, Shirak Province Governor Tigran Petrosyan held an emergency consultation involving the heads of the regional Emergency Situations Department and law enforcement agencies.

According to preliminary data, no casualties or significant damages have been reported in the region as a result of the earthquake, nor have minor or moderate damages been noted.

Today, Shirak Province Governor Tigran Petrosyan conducted a meeting with the heads of urban development, education, and territorial management departments. The governor provided information regarding the epicenter of the earthquake and the tremors observed.

The main tremors were recorded in the Nalband-Vanadzor area, with the epicenter being in the town of Spitak, which is reassuring as it is not a new epicenter and the tremors are believed to be in the process of subsiding.

The governor has instructed to form working groups to visit Ashotzk and Amasia to examine the situation on-site and ensure that especially schools and kindergartens are in normal condition and can operate safely.

A report was received from Ashotzk School about falling plaster in certain parts of the school. Until the commission works and provides a professional conclusion, it has been decided to suspend classes at the school for two days.
