252-Meter Bridge to Be Built Over Hrazdan River

The construction of a new segment of the Argavand-Shirak road has been launched in the capital city. The bilateral memorandum signaling the start of the 2.7 km long roadway construction was signed by Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan and Luis Lopez Moloni, the authorized representative of Levantina Injenieria Constructión (Spain). A copy of the document has been placed at the foundation of the upcoming roadway.

A 252-meter long bridge will be constructed over the Hrazdan River. The details of the project were presented on-site, on a model, to Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan. The new road, financed by the Asian Development Bank under the Urban Sustainable Development Investment Program Tranche 2, will feature continuous traffic with 4-6 lanes, averaging 24-28 meters wide. The roadway segment also includes the construction of a 252-meter long and 28-meter wide metal bridge over the Hrazdan River, as well as the development of a single carriageway at the existing traffic junction at the intersection of Isakov and Babajanyan streets.

“The new road segment is of strategic importance for Yerevan and, in general, for Armenia. Currently, we have four bridges in the capital, and the one constructed over the Hrazdan River will be the fifth. This roadway segment will significantly ease traffic in Yerevan,” noted the mayor.

Representing the construction firm Levantina Injenieria Constructión, Luis Lopez Moloni emphasized that the company has extensive experience in executing such projects and assured that the work will be completed on schedule.

During the construction works, all necessary utility relocations will take place, and energy-saving LED lights will be installed in the lighting system.

The Argavand-Shirak road is a segment of Yerevan's western ring road, which also connects the Malatia-Sebastia and Shengavit administrative districts. The contract value is approximately 26,003,196.22 USD equivalent in Armenian drams. The construction will last for 21 months.
