Former Argentine national team forward and head coach Diego Maradona was introduced as the head coach of Argentine club Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata on September 9, according to BBC reports. The club's stadium welcomed the Argentine football legend with a warm reception, which left him unable to hold back tears.

The 58-year-old coach's contract is set to last until the end of the current season. After five rounds of the Argentine league, Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata is at the bottom of the standings with just 1 point, ranking 24th.

It is worth noting that this club was founded in 1887. Maradona had previously left his position as head coach of the Mexican club Dorados in June of this year.
