Laboratory Director Dismissed, Offered Worker Position

The acting director of the "Radiation Medicine and Burns Scientific Center," Gevorg Simonyan, has dismissed the head of the center's laboratory diagnostic department, candidate of sciences Davit Grigoryan, offering him a position as a worker or technician at the same center. In a conversation with NEWS.am, Davit Grigoryan recounted that he was told there were going to be layoffs, but the real reason is more profound.

"The problem began because our director, Gevorg Simonyan, is a 28-year-old young man who is very close to Minister Arsen Torosyan. He started to make arbitrary decisions in the center, creating a climate of fear among everyone that he is very close to the minister and could remove people from their positions. I couldn't remain silent against some of his actions, and that led to a conflict. He is now pursuing me, wanting to get rid of me. Initially, he removed me from scientific work, and now I received such a notification. The pressure is unbearable, with mafia-like phone calls and attempts to close all my avenues, but my lawyers are handling this issue, and we will go to court," Davit Grigoryan told the news agency.

According to him, the conflict started when the acting director attempted to dismiss employees from the laboratory—one doctor and two lab technicians—but he stated that with such a staff, they can barely perform quality analyses, and only with new equipment can layoffs be considered. Gevorg Simonyan insisted that a new staff list had been established, and layoffs must occur.

Davit Grigoryan noted that he has not yet left his job and is discussing the issue with his lawyers.
