Major Accident in Yerevan: One Injured

At around 1:00 PM, the driver of a Chevrolet Corvette with license plate 99 ZX 779 lost control on Sebastia Street, near the Yerevan Lake, close to the well-known "Triangle Bridge," and crashed into the concrete support of the bridge.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan on the scene, the driver sustained injuries and was taken to the "Astghik" medical center. The emergency situations ministry's rescue service arrived promptly at the scene with a response team consisting of one combat unit. Rescuers disconnected the power supply to the vehicle and cordoned off the area.
Officers from Yerevan’s traffic police arrived at the scene under the leadership of Yerevan Traffic Police Chief Arman Hakobyan. The information about the accident was conveyed to the investigative department by the responsible duty officer Mikael Aghabekyan of the Yerevan Traffic Police operational management center, from where a duty team headed by departmental head Khachik Samvelyan and senior investigator Andranik Shahbazyan was dispatched. Materials are being prepared regarding the incident by A. Shahbazyan.
The police are investigating the identity of the driver. Notice: A person suspected or accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures set out in the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia by a court verdict that has entered into legal force.
