Hot Discussion: Amulsar Was Not the Only Topic
According to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's active meetings with members of the legislative and executive branches are ongoing. Yesterday, he gathered members of the National Assembly's My Step faction at the Central Office of the Civil Contract party. And as stated by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, the main topic of discussion was the exploitation of the Amulsar mine.
However, according to the daily's sources, this was not the only topic of the meeting, and we have learned more details. In particular, it became known that the issue of Nikol Pashinyan's meeting with members of the Sasna Tsrer group was also raised during the meeting, which concerned several MPs. Nevertheless, Pashinyan reassured them, stating that they had wanted to meet for seven months, which is why the meeting took place. Following this topic, a hot discussion occurred around the exploitation of the Amulsar mine.
According to the newspaper's sources, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Lena Nazaryan and MPs Varazdat Karapetyan, Mikayel Zolyan, and several others have again expressed opposition to the operation of the Amulsar mine. Based on our information, Pashinyan mentioned that he himself cannot yet clearly state what solution will be given to the issue, but explained that legally there is nothing they can do.
Pashinyan added that, according to documents, if the mine is to be operated, it will happen in mid-2020. According to our information, the mine will not be operated for another eight months, as construction processes must first begin, followed by creating the conditions necessary for the mine's operation.
