The Cases of Arayik Ghazaryan and Karen Ghazaryan Cannot Leave the Foreign Policy Agenda, Mnatsakanyan
The cases of Arayik Ghazaryan and Karen Ghazaryan in Azerbaijan cannot leave the foreign policy agenda of the Republic of Armenia at any time. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan during a press conference held on September 6.
“This issue cannot be removed from the agenda at any moment. We are actively working with my other colleagues who are directly related to this issue, and the Red Cross has a role here. The same applies to Karen Ghazaryan. No effort is spared to continue achieving results,” Mnatsakanyan said.
On August 12, around 12:00, a serviceman named Arayik Hayk Ghazaryan, born in 2000, left his combat position under unclear circumstances from one of the military base’s protection points in the southeastern direction of the Armed Forces. Earlier, the spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Minister Artsrun Hovhannisyan confirmed that there is currently an Armenian citizen in Azerbaijan. “I confirm that there is currently an Armenian citizen in Azerbaijan, but the circumstances, his identity, and other details will be provided by the relevant authorities,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Karen Ghazaryan, a resident of Berdavan community, has been held captive in Azerbaijan since July 15, 2018.
