Students of HPTU Send Open Letter to the Prime Minister
Students of the Armenian State University of Economics (HPTU) have sent an open letter to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the "plagiarism cases" by Acting Rector D. Galoyan.
The letter is presented below:
“Dear Mr. Pashinyan,
After reviewing the scientific works of the Acting Rector of HPTU, D. Galoyan, we have revealed numerous cases of obvious plagiarism. These are all scientific works in which, according to D. Galoyan’s thesis summary, "the main provisions of the thesis have been published," while others were presented for the professor's academic title.
Moreover, while some translated parts of R. Hayrapetyan’s work lacked references, in this case, we are dealing with direct "copy-paste" instances in the same language.
We do not want to harm Ms. Galoyan and her reputation in any way. On the contrary, we believe that even these eye-catching plagiarisms from coursework and other sources are not solely her fault. Recently, there has been much discussion about the notion that D. Galoyan’s appointment was a result of the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (ESCS). These claims persist as the ministry has so far demonstrated a clear discriminatory approach and has not responded to the revealed cases of simplistic plagiarism in D. Galoyan's academic works.
Since the reason for Ruben Hayrapetyan’s resignation, according to the ESCS Minister's statement, was the existing issues in his scientific work and academic values, we demand your instruction to the ministry for the presentation of an official conclusion regarding the apparent cases of plagiarism attached herein. We kindly ask for an official clarification on whether these are manifestations of plagiarism and academic dishonesty.
