Prime Minister Meets with Residents of Jermuk and Leaders of Lydian International
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting today at the government with representatives of the residents of Jermuk, a city in the Vayots Dzor Province. The situation regarding the Amulsar mining project was discussed during the meeting. Specifically, the procedures for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), questions related to the monitoring of the project, its legal, economic, and environmental aspects, as well as public concerns were addressed.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of dialogue between the government and society regarding issues of public interest and noted that the resolution of the situation concerning the Amulsar mining project should be based on the balanced interests of the Republic of Armenia. He added that future steps must take into account the significance of viewing all components of the project as part of a comprehensive whole.
Following this meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Edward Sellers, the interim president and CEO of Lydian International, and Haik Aloyan, the CEO of Lydian Armenia. During their discussions, the parties addressed issues related to the current situation surrounding the Amulsar project. They specifically focused on the conclusions of the international expertise conducted regarding the Amulsar mine, its analytical results, and the raised concerns.
