I've Hit Him Several Times: Incident Between Kocharyan Supporter and Victim of March 1 Case
Today, on September 6, an incident occurred between Robert Kocharyan's supporter Arshak Sargsyan and Andranik Harutyunyan, a victim of the March 1 case, as reported by ArmDaily.am.
In an interview with the media, Andranik stated that he was compelled to use physical force in defense of his dignity. “In the morning, I was walking on Baghramyan Avenue when he stopped his car, looked at me, and shouted the most shameless insults at me and my family. At first, I thought he was talking to someone on the phone, but when he looked at me again and repeated it, I realized he was actually addressing me. He then drove off quickly because of a traffic jam, but it didn’t work. I hit him several times for those words, and he went to the police and told a completely different story, claiming that I attacked him for no reason,” Andranik explained.
Andranik noted that this is not the first time they have interacted. Arshak has periodically approached him during protests to ask questions, and he has always responded normally and has not allowed conflicts to arise. “He has always looked for an opportunity, but it hasn’t worked out. This time, I have witnesses who can testify that he provoked me,” he added.
When asked whether the reason behind the incident was their political views and being in different camps, Andranik responded, “I am a victim of the March 1 incident; I was blinded during those days. He supports Kocharyan, but I have never said anything against that. Let him support him if he thinks that’s right. He just wants to show that he is even getting beaten up in the name of defending Kocharyan, and that he is loyal.”
