Director of Metsamor’s 'Baregargum' Community Non-Commercial Organization Embezzled 9,331,597 AMD
The investigation into the embezzlement case involving the Metsamor 'Baregargum' Community Non-Commercial Organization has been completed by the Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. Charges have been brought against the organization’s director and the cashier.
According to the information obtained during the investigation, the director of the Metsamor 'Baregargum' Organization, who has held this position since November 2008, demanded from the cashier the amounts collected from the residents of Metsamor for waste disposal and housing rent, which were supposed to be transferred to the relevant account of the Metsamor Municipality. This request was made between 2012 and early 2018, with the promise to return the funds.
As a result, the director, utilizing his official position, embezzled a large amount of money that had been handed over to him by the cashier, totaling 9,331,597 AMD. During the investigation, the damage caused by the alleged crime has been fully recovered.
Based on sufficient evidence, the director has been charged under the first part of the third subparagraph of Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, while the cashier has been charged under the first part of the third subparagraph of Article 38-179 of the Criminal Code.
As a preventive measure, a signature not to leave has been imposed on them. The investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the legality of the investigation.
Note: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia through a court verdict that has entered into legal force.
