Investigation Launched into the Murder of Two Shepherds
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an inquiry to clarify all circumstances surrounding the murder of two shepherds in the Syunik province.
On September 3, 2019, at 17:05, the Sisian police received a call from a citizen reporting that he discovered the bodies of his father and a fellow villager in the pastures of Torunik village in Syunik province.
An investigative-operational group immediately arrived at the scene, where they found the body of a 51-year-old man from Syunik with head injuries and the body of a 27-year-old man from the same province with a gunshot wound to the lower part of the neck, along with a single-barrel smoothbore hunting rifle of 16 mm caliber next to his corpse.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Sisian Investigative Division of the Syunik Regional Investigative Committee under Article 104, Part 2, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code.
During the preliminary investigation, a number of investigative actions have been carried out, including interrogations and examinations of the crime scene, during which samples have been collected.
To determine the nature and severity of the bodily injuries inflicted on the victims, as well as the mechanism of occurrence and other circumstances, a forensic medical examination of the bodies has been appointed. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and complete examination of all circumstances of the case.
