Four Military Vehicles of the Ministry of Defense Collide and Park in Road Traffic Zone: Details from the Investigation Committee

The Investigation Committee of Armenia reports that on September 29, 2019, at approximately 16:30, a collision occurred involving military vehicles on the 27th kilometer of the Armavir-Gyumri highway. The vehicles, part of a military convoy conducting training exercises from September 24 to October 5, belong to the Ministry of Defense and include "ZIL" with registration number 32 UU 875, and several "KAMAZ" trucks with registration numbers 753 SL 45, 548 SL 45, and 625 AF 61. They were parked within the road traffic zone.

Due to the lack of safe traffic conditions and measures not being taken to prevent potential road accidents, at around 19:30, a passenger bus with registration number 35 SN 646 collided with the artillery attached to the "KAMAZ" with registration number 625 AF 61. As a result, the bus driver, Hakob Grigor Hakobyan, a 1958-born resident of Aragatcavan village in Aragatsotn Province, died on the spot. Additionally, 13 passengers sustained varying degrees of bodily injuries and were transported to medical centers.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 377 of the RA Criminal Code in the 10th Garrison Investigation Division of the Military Investigation Department, and an investigation is underway.
