Gagik Khachatryan Was in the Hospital, But Where Is He Now?

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports: "For several days now, there have been publications in the media regarding the former head of the State Revenue Committee, Gagik Khachatryan, who was allegedly transferred to the hospital after his arrest. There were two theories circulating: one claimed that Gagik Khachatryan has health issues and was therefore moved to the hospital, while the second theory noted that he was taken to the hospital with symptoms of a stroke and that his health condition is very poor.

Ultimately, the newspaper "Zhoghovurd" attempted to find out officially whether Gagik Khachatryan has been transferred to the hospital, and, in general, where he is currently located.

Initially, "Zhoghovurd" contacted the National Security Service, trying to understand from the preliminary investigation body whether Gagik Khachatryan was moved to the hospital for any complaint within the 72 hours following his arrest. The NSS press center informed us that during the 72 hours after the arrest, the preliminary investigation body did not transfer Gagik Khachatryan to the hospital.

Furthermore, "Zhoghovurd" tried to ascertain whether perhaps the penitentiary service transferred him to the hospital after his detention. In response to our inquiry, the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia stated that on August 31 at 9:30 AM, Gagik Khachatryan was admitted to the "Yerevan Center" penitentiary and remains there until now. He has not been transferred to the hospital.

Based on the official response from law enforcement, Gagik Khachatryan was not taken to the hospital; however, it is a fact that he was at the hospital, namely, the "Astghik" medical center." More details in today's issue of the newspaper.
