Sergo Yeritsyan's Son Will Not Be Punished for 'Drink Chishik' Call
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that according to their information, Sergo Yeritsyan's son, Judge Sargis Yeritsyan of the general jurisdiction court of the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan, will not be punished.
Recall that on May 20, following the well-known action to block the entrances of courts, the judge posted on his Facebook page: 'My dear friends, I have heard that many are scared after today’s vague action. Immediately drink CHISHIK, they say it helps.'
A procedure was initiated against the judge by the Ethics and Disciplinary Issues Committee of the Republic of Armenia's General Assembly of Judges regarding his comment. Essentially, Judge Yeritsyan appeared before the committee and presented his justifications concerning his well-known statement.
However, the committee decided not to punish him and did not forward his case to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). According to the information we received, following the judge's statement, a group of citizens 'filled a container with chishik' and took it to the front of the SJC. Judging by the situation, if we are speaking about the self-cleaning of the judicial system, this incident should not have gone unpunished; however, the ethics committee determined that there was nothing extraordinary in the actions taken.
