Court Examines the Detention Order for Karen Khachatryan, Nephew of Former Head of the State Revenue Committee
In the Shengavit District Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan, under the presidency of Judge Robert Papoyan, a hearing has commenced today at noon regarding the detention order for Karen Khachatryan, the nephew of former head of the State Revenue Committee, Gagik Khachatryan. The hearing will address the National Security Service's (NSS) request to choose a detention measure and the appeal from Khachatryan's defense lawyers against his arrest. Karen Khachatryan attended the session.
After several hours of court proceedings, the hearing was adjourned around 5:30 PM and will continue later today, at a later hour.
It is important to note that Karen Khachatryan previously held the position of Deputy Director of the Internal Security Department of the State Revenue Committee. He is accused of embezzling a particularly large amount of funds. His uncle, Gagik Khachatryan, the former head of the State Revenue Committee and former Minister of Finance, has also been charged in connection with this case. The detention request for Gagik Khachatryan is currently being examined in court.
