Any Subsequent EIA Will Confirm That Mining Operation Is Safe, Haik Gevorgyan
Lawmaker Haik Gevorgyan from the 'My Step' faction asserts that even if another Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is conducted, it will prove that the Amulsar mine's operation is safe. He made this statement today during a conversation with reporters, addressing the need for a new assessment of the environmental impact concerning the exploitation of the Amulsar mine.
According to Gevorgyan, he believes this because he has studied the technology used at Amulsar, which he claims is the cleanest in the world. “The technology is such that I am absolutely confident that any EIA will yield positive results,” he stated.
Regarding the potential for corruption risks related to 'Elard,' the lawmaker expressed that, unlike other mines, this case cannot be claimed. “If we compare our current mines, their extraction technologies and the technology used at Amulsar, I don't know what to compare it with, for example comparing a Zaporozhets with a Mercedes; this is genuinely green technology. Even environmentalists do not speak on the subject of technological differences because it will become clear that this is a much better technology and there is no cleaner technology for extracting metals from metallic mines,” he added.
It is worth recalling that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that during a Skype conference held yesterday with experts from 'Elard,' several new circumstances emerged that require examination and assessment. The conclusion related to the 'Elard' examination should be provided by the Ministry of Environment by September 4.
