Misappropriations in Gegharkunik Province: 37 Million Drams Recovered

The Gegharkunik Provincial Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee has uncovered the circumstances of overt misappropriations committed by employees of the Gegharkunik Provincial Administration and municipal governments through four criminal cases.

A total of 37,235,348 drams has been recovered from the damage caused to the state.

According to the press service of the Investigative Committee, based on the data obtained during the investigation, the amount of damage caused to the state due to the overt misappropriations committed by the mentioned employees from 2008 to 2018 amounts to 39,022,782 drams, of which 37,235,348 drams have been recovered during the pre-trial investigation.

Based on sufficient evidence, charges have been filed against six individuals: a supervisor of the Tavush Regional Social Assistance Agency of the Gegharkunik Provincial Administration has been charged under part 3, clause 2 of Article 311.1 of the RA Criminal Code (receiving illegal remuneration in large amounts by a public servant who is not a public official), the chief specialist of the same agency has been charged under part 1 of Article 311.1 (receiving illegal remuneration by a public servant who is not a public official), the head of the Artsvabner community has been charged under part 3, clause 1 of Article 179 (embezzlement of especially large amounts), the secretary of the Sarukhani community administration has been charged under part 3, clause 1 of Article 179 (embezzlement of especially large amounts), a first-class specialist of the Sarukhani community administration has also faced similar charges, and the acting head of the Sarukhani community has been charged under part 1 of Article 308 (abuse of official powers) and part 1 of Article 314 (official forgery).

As a measure of restraint, a signature not to leave has been applied to them. The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the criminal cases have been submitted to the court with an accusatory conclusion.
