Vehicles Collide on the Chambarak-Aghberk Highway, Including Children Among the Injured
On August 24, at 19:57, the 911 service received a call reporting a traffic accident near the village of Aghberk in the Gegharkunik region, with injuries reported and assistance from rescuers needed.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that a firefighting and rescue team from the regional rescue administration, as well as a duty group from the special rescue operations center, were dispatched to the scene.
It has been determined that at kilometer 14 of the Chambarak-Aghberk highway, two vehicles collided: a Mercedes C140 (driver Taron A., born in 1992) and a VAZ-2121 (driver Karen V., born in 1991).
Before the rescuers arrived at the scene, driver Taron A. and passengers Astghik M. (born in 1994), Arpine (born in 2017), and Arthur A. (born in 2019) of the Mercedes C140 were extracted from the vehicle by local forces and transported to the Chambarak Medical Center, where doctors assessed the condition of the injured as satisfactory.
Rescuers extracted passenger Hamlet V. (born in 1984) from the VAZ-2121, who was taken to Sevan Medical Center.
The rescuers de-energized the vehicles and closed the valves of the gas cylinders.
