There Are 7 Points of Fire. Firefighting Continues Right Now, Says Minister Felix Tsolakyan
Felix Tsolakyan, the Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia, is overseeing firefighting efforts at 'Malatia Mall'. In an interview with the media, he noted that this is a special case as it involves a warehouse containing various goods that are burning in different ways.
'Six vehicles arrived at the scene within 20 minutes of the alert. Currently, 22 vehicles and 420 firefighters are participating in the effort. I regret that people do not appreciate this work,' he stated.
The minister mentioned that on his way to the fire near Khosrov Reserve, he learned about this fire and returned to Yerevan. He stressed that there have been many fires this year, including large-scale forest fires. He did not rule out that the fire could be contained today, but extinguishing it would take time. 'There are 7 points of fire. Firefighting is ongoing right now,' he said.
Responding to a comment from businessman Samvel Aleksanyan, the owner of 'Malatia Mall', regarding the absence of hazardous materials in the warehouse, Tsolakyan remarked, 'Are paints dangerous materials or not? Or perhaps there's a gas cylinder somewhere that everyone has forgotten about. The firefighter could go in and it could explode. They do not consider or express whether it is dangerous or not.'
According to him, there are violations of construction norms at every turn throughout Yerevan. 'Firefighters cannot approach from every side of the building,' noted Felix Tsolakyan.
