Visit to Vova Leads to Dismissal

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the Chief of the Armenian Police, Valeri Osipyan, dismissed Armen Davtyan, the head of the registration-examination division of the Road Police, 3-4 days ago, officially citing it as a result of "his request." We were unable to speak with Davtyan as he is currently out of the country.

Arthur Tonoyan, the deputy chief of the Road Police who oversees this sector, responded to our question about the reasons for Davtyan’s dismissal, denying any failure in his work. He stated, "No, he has not failed; he has been dismissed based on his request." However, we queried whether he might have been asked to write such a request, to which Tonoyan found it difficult to respond.

According to information we have received, Davtyan’s dismissal is linked to his visit with two colleagues, Suren Khudoyan and Levon Begoyan, to former police chief Vladimir Gasparyan's residence located on the shores of Lake Sevan, where they reportedly socialized. This encounter reportedly displeased the new authorities, subsequently leading to their dismissal, more plainly speaking, a form of accountability for their actions.

Consequently, Armen Davtyan has been dismissed
