Explosion in Iraq: Casualties and Dozens Injured
The Iraqi security forces report that an explosion caused by a motorcycle filled with explosives near a Shiite mosque has resulted in the deaths of 3 individuals and injuries to 34 others, according to the Associated Press.
Authorities announced on Saturday that the explosion occurred the previous night in a busy street in the village of Musayib.
The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that the targets were "gatherings of Shia."
Iraq declared victory over the Islamic State at the end of 2017, yet remnants of the terrorist group continue to carry out attacks, particularly in the northern regions of the country.
The Iraqi Armed Forces have announced a new operation to search for hiding places of ISIS members in Anbar province.
