81-Year-Old Woman Dies in Krasnodar After Visiting Daughter: Details of the Tragic Accident

An 81-year-old woman from Zorak village, Margush Hovhannisyan, died in a car accident in the vicinity of Armavir, Krasnodar Krai, while returning from a visit to her daughter. This was reported to NEWS.am by the village mayor Suren Martirosyan.

“Margush Hovhannisyan was a respected educator with 50 years of experience and was well regarded in our village. She had gone to visit her daughter, and this incident occurred on her way back. Her daughter's neighbor was also in the car and was injured; she is currently hospitalized and has informed Margush’s daughter about what happened,” he said, noting that Margush also has two daughters and a son in Armenia.

The mayor added that the deceased's body has not yet been repatriated to Armenia. He had no information regarding the other two fatalities.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, a report was received by the “911” service on August 23 at 22:28, indicating that at 18:21 local time, a traffic accident occurred on the federal R-217 highway near the village of Zavetni. The vehicles involved were an “Opel Zafira” and a “Nissan Qashqai.” As a result of the accident, four people died (three of whom were citizens of Armenia: Vaghik N., born in 1984, Anna A., born in 1988, and Margo H., born in 1938), and five others were injured (one being a citizen of Armenia). The injured Armenian citizen, Gayane D. (born in 2013), was taken to a hospital in Armavir, Russia.
