Cleanup Activities in the Coastal Area Between Two Communities of Lake Sevan National Park

On August 24, in connection with Lake Sevan Protection Day, the scientific and ecological public organization "National Water Cooperation" is carrying out cleanup activities in a coastal area of approximately 500 meters located between the Norashen and Tsovazard communities of Lake Sevan National Park. This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, the National Park "Sevan", the water committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Gegharkunik Regional Administration, and the European Union Water Initiative Plus (EUWIP+).

Students and teachers from secondary schools of 18 communities in Gegharkunik Province participate in the cleanup efforts. Members of the European Union's "Young European Ambassadors" initiative will also participate in the event.

To raise awareness about pollution and water resource issues regarding Lake Sevan, a press conference dedicated to the challenges of the Lake Sevan basin will follow the cleanup activities, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, the Water Committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment of the National Assembly, the Gegharkunik Regional Administration, and the EUWIP+ program.
