Lydian Armenia Commits to Not Releasing Untreated Contact Water into the Environment

In light of the public interest regarding the exploitation of the Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite mine and the information related to environmental pollution, a criminal case has been opened following instances of officials allegedly concealing such information. This release details the stance of Lydian Armenia on the comprehensive expert examination appointed within the framework of the criminal case. The information is provided by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

The company generally accepts the conclusions of the ELARD international expert group regarding the lack of impact on various water resources in the areas of Lake Sevan and Jermuk from the Amulsar Project. Since obtaining the mining rights, the company has adopted an active and flexible policy to fully manage the potential risks of impact on the groundwater and surface water related to the Amulsar project, simultaneously welcoming the positive overall assessment given by the ELARD international expert group regarding the environmental mitigation measures applicable by the company.

The company reiterates that during the implementation period of the project, all potential environmental risks will be fully controlled by the company in accordance with the previously presented programs. The company commits that untreated contact water from the mine area will not be released into the environment.
