Tigran Avinyan Responds to Concerns that the Government is Afraid of International Pressure

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan wrote on his Facebook page: "Continuing from my previous post, I will address another concern expressed, that the government is afraid of international pressure and arbitration.

Imagine a situation where potential arbitration risks arise in connection with the largest investment project in the country, and various representatives of the investing company are constantly discussing this possibility. I would like to inform you that before the publication of the 'ELARD' expertise and even before Lydian's official notification of the dispute, the government took all necessary steps to properly assess the state's possible legal arguments, position, and overall capabilities during the arbitration process.

Accordingly, we have a clear understanding of the situation, as well as our steps and necessary actions in any scenario, including the possible arbitration process. In light of all possible developments, the state will be prepared for the arbitration process. Therefore, the accusations that the government is afraid of international pressure and arbitration are unfounded and do not correspond to reality, given that the Republic of Armenia is a sovereign state, and it is out of the question that decisions will be made under the influence of external pressures."
