Lydian Received Amulsar Exploitation Permit Years Ago, Not Post-Revolution: Lilith Makunts on Amulsar

The leader of the 'My Step' faction in the National Assembly, Lilith Makunts, has addressed the situation surrounding the Amulsar mine. In this regard, she stated on her Facebook page:

“Since there are certain emotional sentiments and comments regarding Amulsar, I suggest we recall a few key facts:

1. Lydian received the permit for the exploitation of Amulsar not after the revolution, but years ago, when previous authorities considered mining as a predominant sector for economic development. In contrast, the current government has declared that the exploitation of mines should gradually decrease, and we consider cutting-edge technologies as pillars for our economic development, rather than mines.

2. Given the created situation, the Government has adopted a risk management policy concerning Amulsar.

3. The created situation is complex, has many layers, and we must approach the issue from the standpoint of supreme responsibility to the state, an accurate assessment of losses and gains, and based on our capabilities to manage processes and risks. A crucial component of making complex decisions is calculating and controlling risks, while predicting the outcomes and consequences.

P.S. I am confident that if the Government decides to exploit Amulsar, it will be based on the aforementioned principles.”
