Issues Regarding Amulsar and Istanbul Convention Discussed at Closed Meeting of the KCP Party: Hokik Aghazaryan
On August 16, a discussion on issues related to the Amulsar project and the Istanbul Convention took place at the headquarters of the Civil Contract (KCP) party. This was stated by Hokik Aghazaryan, a deputy from the My Step faction, in an interview with NEWS.am, noting that he personally did not attend the meeting but was aware of the topics discussed.
Regarding the Istanbul Convention, the deputy mentioned that opinions among the parliament members are divided on this matter. When asked about his stance on the convention, Aghazaryan expressed that he appears to be against it. “As I gradually familiarize myself with the convention, I feel that I am already opposed to it because, in my assessment, this convention is not a transparent document; it has obstacles within it. At this point, I am definitely against it. However, I will still discuss with my colleagues, and it’s possible that my opinion may change,” he stated.
It is worth noting that on the same day, August 16, a meeting was held at the KCP headquarters involving lawmakers from the My Step faction and Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan.
