The State Revenue Committee's anti-smuggling department continues to combat the illegal transportation of drugs and psychotropic substances across the borders of Armenia.

Recently, at the "Agarak" state border checkpoint, employees of the anti-smuggling department discovered white, crystalline substances resembling methamphetamine under the seat of an Iranian citizen who arrived by bus from the Meghri border checkpoint. The total weight of the substances was 102.09 grams.

During the inspection, authorities also uncovered 29.08 grams of a brownish mass resembling heroin. Additionally, the officials found 53 unmarked tablets from the hiding spot, which, according to the Iranian citizen, are methadone-type drugs.

This information has been provided by the information and public relations department of the Customs Committee.

The materials compiled related to the incident have been submitted to the committee's investigative department. A criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of Article 267.1 and part 1 of Article 266 of the Armenian Criminal Code. The Iranian citizen has been detained.
