International Committee of the Red Cross Has Not Yet Met with Arayik Ghazaryan; Armenia’s Ombudsman’s Office in Touch with His Family

The Armenian Ombudsman’s office has reported a phone conversation with Claire Maitrot, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Armenia, regarding the rights of soldier Arayik Ghazaryan who is currently in Azerbaijani territory.

It was communicated that the ICRC has not yet visited Arayik Ghazaryan, but the issue remains a priority for them. The Ombudsman’s office has been in contact with the family members of Ghazaryan as well.

Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan will address relevant international bodies regarding the guarantees for the rights of the serviceman, including issues related to his health condition.

Earlier reports indicated that on August 12, around 12:00 PM, Arayik Hayk Ghazaryan, born in 2000, left his combat position under still unclear circumstances from one of the military units deployed in the southeastern direction of the Armed Forces. According to Azerbaijani media reports, soldier Ghazaryan is currently with them. An investigation is underway to clarify the details of the incident.
