Armenians in Egypt Find Themselves on the Streets: Families Become Victims of Fraud
A group of 10 Armenians has found themselves on the streets of Sharm El Sheikh at this moment. It is reported that they booked their packages through Joy and Info Travel. The tourists arrived at their destination only to discover that they can stay in their reserved hotel for only three days, and they are uncertain about whether they have a return flight or not. The tourists include young children.
Info Travel has not responded to our calls, while the Joy travel agency has denied the information. "We currently have four people vacationing in Sharm El Sheikh, and they have shared photos. Everything is fine with the Armenian tourists," a representative from Joy travel agency told SHANTNEWS.am.
The Armenian Tourism Committee informed us that they do not have precise information yet and advised us to send an inquiry to the committee for additional information. Earlier reports indicated that three Armenian families traveling to Egypt have ended up outside of their accommodations. The travel agency, which the families have used for several years, has been slow to assist the families who are out on the streets due to its own negligence.
One of the tourists in Egypt, Anahit, shared her experience with SHANTNEWS.am: "This is our second time in Egypt. We preferred the same hotel because we felt safer and better here. This time, we decided to spend our vacation here again as three families. We booked for 10 days, having previously always used 'Info Travel' via Noem Shahinyan. However, I don’t know why he arranged the bookings separately—six days with 'Joy' and for the other part, I don’t remember the name. We booked one extra day to ensure we wouldn’t be outside with my little one before the flight. Now, they haven’t transferred payment for those 4+1 days to the hotel, and we were kicked out since yesterday, now we are on the streets."
