Evacuations of Tourists Due to Fires in Turkey's Marmara Island
In Turkey, tourists are being evacuated due to forest fires that have erupted in Marmara Island. The beaches are enveloped in smoke, and the flames have approached coastal cafes, hotels, and yachts.
Specifically, 80 residents have been evacuated from their homes. On July 12, Turkish resorts located along the Aegean coast, as well as Fethiye and Dalaman, were covered in smoke due to forest fires in the southwestern Mugla province. Approximately 350 hectares have been burned. The fire has occurred 60 kilometers away from the Fethiye resort, from where more than 30 households were evacuated.
Firefighting efforts involve 520 firefighters, 105 water tankers, 18 bulldozers, and 15 helicopters.
