Dispute Over Wreath at Funeral in Ararat Ends in Stabbing

A dispute that occurred in the community of Ginevet in the Ararat province concluded with a stabbing incident. NEWS.am has learned this from the judicial information system.

During a funeral in the village of Nor Ughi, a minor engaged in a conversation about holding a floral wreath with local residents. On February 11, 2019, around 17:00, his fellow villager Haik Muradyan decided to personally speak with the residents to prevent any further potential disputes and took the minor with him.

Later that evening, the minor's father, Artyom Mkrtchyan, became upset at the thought that Haik Muradyan had taken his son to Nor Ughi without his knowledge and resolved his issues. Subsequently, around 20:30 the same day, Artyom Mkrtchyan encountered Haik Muradyan on Komitas Street in the village of Ginevet, and during the argument that ensued concerning the aforementioned issues, Haik Muradyan used a knife he had with him to intentionally stab Artyom Mkrtchyan four times in different parts of his body.

Haik Muradyan has been charged under part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (intentionally causing serious harm to health). A signature not to leave has been chosen as a measure of restraint for Haik Muradyan. The case has been sent to the court and assigned to the judge Harutyun Petrosyan at the general jurisdiction court of Ararat and Vayots Dzor provinces.
