Firefighters Battle Major Blaze in Norq Forest for Over 2 Hours, Led by Emergency Situations Minister

For over 2 hours, several teams from the Emergency Situations Ministry's rescue service have been risking their lives to combat a major fire that erupted in Norq. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, firefighters are working in various directions with several combat units to tackle the blaze in the Norq Marash administrative area.

Alongside the firefighters, personnel from the communal division of the Norq Marash administrative office, led by the district head Vahik Mkrtchyan, have also arrived promptly to assist in controlling the fire spread. Officers from the Central Police Division and the Marash Police Department are present on the scene as well.

City Hall employees, led by Mayor’s advisor Kamo Areyan, are also involved in the firefighting efforts. Thanks to the coordinated work of the firefighters, City Hall, and administrative staff, they managed to prevent the fire from spreading, saving vast areas from becoming engulfed in flames, including the Norq Forest and the television tower.

The operations on-site are being supervised by Arnold Harutyunyan, head of Yerevan's rescue department. Meanwhile, the Minister of Emergency Situations, Felix Tsolakyan, is personally overseeing the efforts at the hottest spot of the fire. The photojournalist reports that while the spread of the fire has currently been halted, a large number of firefighters are stationed at the scene based on the minister's directive, and under the instruction of Mayor Hayk Marutyan, they will remain on duty for several hours.
